sweet boy

Today I have a quick layout to share with you guys about one of my pups. I call my dogs 'pups' despite the fact that they both weigh about 90lbs because they both seem to think that they're puppies :) I don't do a ton of pages about the boys since they're usually included throughout the pages of my Project Life album. But every once in a while I get a cute shot that makes me want to create a page.

For this page I used some bits and pieces from the Love Life Classic kit. I didn't want it too look girly or too lovey dovey but since the kit isn't soley 'girlish' that was easily accomplished!

I did my journaling with a gold Uni-ball pen. I can't remember if that was included in a kit a while back or if I bought that separately. But either way you can find it in the shop here along with several other colors.

The alphas were from the Hey Girl Daily Diary kit.

Don't forget, all past kits are on sale for $5 off using the code "5five"!!

A peek inside my project life formula...

Hi again :) I've got another layout to share using the Love Life Daily Diary kit. This week documents Valentine's day and although it isn't a huge occasion here in Australia that didn't stop me from adding a touch of love to the week.

While putting this layout together I noticed that I often use the same type of  'formula' for creating my pages and thought it might be a good idea to walk through some of these steps.

I mainly use the same pocket style (Deisgn A) throughout the year beacause it makes it quicker and easier when deciding what size to print out my pictures. After printing my photos, I being each layout by spreading them out and looking at the colors and tones to help me determine what colors to use and then go through my kit or stash and find pieces to suit the color scheme I have chosen. Here I decided on a variety of pink, red and cream cards and papers along with a few pops of blue to compliment the photos.

Instead of a tradtional title card, I began the week with a simple photo that I added a framed die-cut to the centre of. Once I had the frame secured to the photo, I ran it all through my printer to add the date directly over the top.

I like to cut and piece together filler and journal cards to create a more custom look, and often do the same with layers of different patterns under my photos. Mixing different types of alpha and number pieces also helps to add more interest to the page.

Before adding embellishments I like to make sure the photo feels anchored in place because I've found that floating embellishments can often look out of place. Using a strip of washi tape across the page helped to anchor the photo and vellum envelope before adding the stickers over the top.

I like to add a white margin around my larger photos to help them stand out and break up some of the patterns on a busy page, but it can also work well for smaller photos. I printed out two 3x4'' photos with a margin to help define each pic but then used the alpha stickers to tie them together.

Once again I cut up two of the card designs to create my own look and added a few simple srtips of typed journaling over the top.

Filler cards are great when you are short on photos and also a good way of adding more color to your pockets. I used one of the confetti cards which I created in this post because it was perfect for the love them as well as my chosen color scheme.  The little confetti hearts also came in handy when I was taking a photo of my Valentine's cupcakes.

You may have noticed that I normally type and print all of journaling, but I do like to add the occasional hand written note from time to time for a more personal touch. I hope that some of these steps have been useful and I'm sure if you think about how you put your pages together you will recognise your own formula too.
See you next week xx

My Planner System Using the Love Life Classic Kit

So, I don't know about you guys, but I'm guessing, since you're a scrapbooker,  you've probably had a long love affair with office supplies. I'm no exception. Ever since I was little, I collected scraps of papers, pens, tape, and any little office supply I could grab. I remember when I was a teenager and got introduced to the idea of a planner. OH I was in heaven!

I've been a planner addict for a very long time. It's changed what it's looked like over the years. I now really just like a monthly calendar and then copious places for lists and notes. I used to love a day by day planner but I would try to micromanage my time and get frustrated when life wasn't perfectly in my control. Ha!

Lately, there's been so much beauty out there on social media of the different ways people are creatively adjusting their planners and notebooks with fun scrapbooking products, so I had to jump in and play some too.

I rummaged around and found my old Memory Dock planner from We R Memory Keepers. (This system was very much like Project Life! Anyone remember it?) I pulled out all the old stuff and then put in a cute new cover in the frame, using my Love Life kit.

Inside the front cover, I store my purse calendar so I can keep both synced. I won't be carrying this big one everywhere I go; it's not convenient for that. I made a dashboard for the front using some papers from the Love Life kit and laminating it. The beauty of it being laminated is that I can tape things to it and then change it out as I need to.

I printed out a calendar from The Nifty Planner on etsy and added a few pieces of washi tape to the edges and a clip from the kit. My calendar is nice and blank now, but it'll be very full after I sit down and fill it in today!

My March kit, Shine Bright, should arrive later today so I left room on my calendar to add stickers, tape, and small flat embellishments to my pages.

All my dividers are laminated so that I can tape small items to them.

You can see here where I taped a card from the Love Life kit, along with a pretty verse.

I have some weekly planning sheets and menu planners from The Joyful Papery in a second section of my planner. I left the backs intentionally blank so I can attach notes and write lists in it. Another few little cute embellishments from the Love Life kit adorn these pages. The planner stickers are from the Reset Girl Shop.

Behind this last section (using that GORGEOUS paper from the Love Life kit), I'm tucking my art journal. This will be a perfect place to store it when I'm not using it, and I can grab this whole planner and take it with me if I want to bring it all together.

What are your favorite office supplies? Don't you love how scrapbooking and daily life are merging more and more together?!

Hello Sweetheart

Hi there ! It's Mindi here with you today on this fine Tuesday.

How was your Valentine's Day ? Hopefully it was full of love and happiness.

I am here with you today to share my Valentine's Day week with you. The every day, the prep work, all the love, and such. I had lots of fun working with the Love Life DD kit again this week. This kit is jam packed and certainly perfect for Valentine's Day. Although, as you will see I have lots of regular moments. Even a birthday !

I used one of the 4x6 cards from the paper 12x12 sheets as the base for my title card. I kept it simple and added a sticker and the arrow paper clip.

During the week I had a few chances to take some fun Valentine's day/love themed photos. I included a few of them on the first page.

I also took the kids out for a fun Valentine's Day photo during this week. I plan on doing a full 2 page spread but I did add in a few photos this week. I made a collage and added a circle cork piece in the middle.

I journaled about our Valentine's Day photo shoot on this great card. I added one of these cork stickers on the bottom of the journaling card.  I also made another journaling card + photo of our shopping day and some of the families new shoes. Kind of fun.

I added in this great filler card. It is simply one of my favorite cards in this kit.

We decided at the last minute to take a road trip to the coast on Valentine's Day. I made a journaling card using this perfect card and some embellishments.

Next to it is a photo of my son at the road side fruit stand that we stopped at on the way to the beach.

Speaking of the beach, I added a photo from our beach trip to this week.

The day after Valentine's Day is my oldest daughters birthday. I added a smaller picture onto some patterned paper, and other embellishments.

Instead of adding another photo to this pocket I added some journaling about my daughters birthday.
In the kraft envelope I used the back side of the tag that was in the kit to journal on and added another small photo from my daughters birthday. I added some ribbon to the tag and slide both of the journaling cards into the pocket.

That is a wrap on my week 7. I had so much fun creating this weeks pages and I hope you have found some inspiration.  There are still kits available so go and get yours in the shop before they are all gone.  See you all next time !
