Think Happy Thoughts (Hey Girl Kit)

Before I dive into the scrumptious "Love Life Kit" (there's a few left!) , I wanted to use a few leftovers from the Hey Girl kit. Since my girl turned seven last month, I wanted to be certain to use these bright, vibrant colors to celebrate & document her!

I loved that the thickers had a few other little designs mixed into them, including these hearts. I just matted it on some patterned paper as a little accent.

As I mentioned in my video, I wanted to try spraying the felt bows with a little mist to see how it would look. I love the results! I didn't completely saturate them because I liked bits of white peeking through, but you could definitely completely change the color if you'd like!

Week 2 with my daily diary kit...

Hi again, I've got another Project Life spread to share using the Hey Girl Daily Diary Kit

Week 2 was a busy one for us because we had a lot of organising to do for our son's 18th birthday. I am planning to add an insert for the actual event between these pages as I have loads of photos from the day.

The week involved a couple of visits to the cake and party supply shops. I created a simple faux pocket to hold some of the business cards I collected by placing a piece of vellum over a card stock base card then wrapping the printed strips around the vellum and base card, securing it on the reverse side.

I printed my journaling directly onto one of the patterned papers and used the line in the pattern as a guide for my text placement. Adding the overlay over the card allows the pattern to show through to create an easy custom card.

I kept a couple of clothing tags from my son's purchases to help tell the story of the fitting room pics and used one of the die-cut frames to hold the tags in place over some patterned paper I cut down form the kit along with one of the day of the week arrows.

I created a text box in Word to shape my journaling inside the arrow of the card. It took a couple of practice prints to make sure it would fit inside the shape before feeding it back through the printer. I don't have a light box but find that a placing the page and journal card onto a window and securing it with washi tape does the job nicely.  I used the date stamp with red ink from the kit to break up some of the text, and backed one of the die-cut circles with card stock and patterned paper before adding it to my card. I love that the enamel heart was the perfect size to replace once of the letters.

I created a couple of pockets on this page by cutting down some of the patterned paper on a slight angle and adding a contrasting strip across the top. I attached these pieces onto grid cards using adhesive only along the bottom edge so that I could easily slide memorabilia in and out.

I created another custom card by cutting down a couple of the journal cards to place beneath my photo, then finishing it off with a few stickers and accents.

I added a little bit of detail to some of the pics using various pieces from the kit and was able to add the house shaped paperclip onto the photo by cutting a small slit for it to slip into.

See you next week :)

two Hey Girl projects for today

Hello!

I apologize for the late post today but it has been CRAZY here this week!

And, while I was working on this post earlier my computer crashed.

Isn't life fun?!

To make up for my tardiness I have two projects to share with you.

First up I have a card to share. I used the beautiful watercolor paper as my base and then backed a diecut 2"x3" card with a piece of the same watercolor patterned paper. I used some of the beautiful citron ribbon to tie a bow around the card, added some foam adhesive and some of the Heidi Swapp washi tape.

I also created a 12x12 page using the kit and some twine and a burlap heart from my stash.

I like how the rub-ons have some dots that look like big ink splotches.

Noel's kits are always so full of texture and I love it!

I tried to mix up a lot of different textures on this page.

And of course I finished off the page with journaling. I think it is the most important part of a page and a great way to document info that we tend to forget way too quickly.

Have a great day!

This Sweet Life

Hello everyone ! I'm back with you today to share a few more pages that I have created with the Hey Girl Daily Diary Kit.

I am playing catch up again. I was going through my albums just the other day and discovered that I have a few months left in my 2012 album left to finish. I have to say that it was so fun to go back a few years and re live some moments when my kids were smaller. This is sure a sweet life and I just loved using that ice cream card this week.

I got straight to work and created two pages for week 41 of 2012.

Here is what both pages look like.

Here is the first page.

I decided that I wanted to use a photo of my two kids on their bikes and enlarge it. I also wanted to use it to hold the week # and the dates.

I cropped it to 4x12 and printed it out as two separate 4x6 photos. I wanted to try and keep the illusion of the two pockets being one photo and so I added the small strip of patterned paper onto both photos.

I added some of the grey patterned paper behind the kraft circle die cut piece and used it on top of my journaling card.

My daughter was in Kindergarten at the time and they got to take home some fun things every once in a while. It was her night to take home the Skippy John Jones backpack. She was so excited to have Skippy home with her. He went everywhere with her that day.

I cut out the circle piece out of the 6x6 paper pack and added to the photo.

We had received this pumpkin from a friend that had a garden and it sat on our small front porch all month. It was sure a fun reminder that it was indeed fall even if the weather sure didn't feel like it.

I used the leftover black and white camera paper in the corner of this photo. I added a few embellishments as well.

For this one I had this photo of me sitting in my chair watching the kids ride their bikes. I simply stapled the photo and the journaling card together.

The "love" word was cut out from one of the journaling cards.

Here is the right side. I decided to switch it up a little and use a page protector that had 3x4 pockets and 4x4 pockets. It sure was fun to play with different sizes for a different look.

Katelyn was so into bow and arrows after Brave the movie came out. She went out and made one all by herself that week. I printed out my journaling onto vellum and added it onto the orange feather card and added the heart badge.

I added a small 3x4 photo with a journaling square for this one. The pink card was already 4x4 in size so that was perfect to print out my journaling and slip into the page.

I cut down this filler card to fit into the 3x4 pocket. It went perfectly with my photo of Katelyn and her collection she had found that day on one of our walks.

That is all I have for today. Have a great week everyone !

I'll be back next month with some pages using the new Love Life Daily Diary Kit. So go get yours today in the shop !!
