It's 2011!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new Jump and Jive kit! I pulled out a few colors to work with - teal, black, yellow and pink to scrap these photos of my girls ringing in the New Year! And, I had a little fun and got crazy with some mist in the same colors...I love the "party" atmosphere the mist gives to the layout!

I punched out some stars with a Fiskars punch to go along with the stars on their shirts and added a couple Cosmo Cricket doilies and My Mind's Eye brads to them that were in the kit.

I love the Crate Paper film strip sticker in the kit and had to add the Prima bling to highlight the year. The Jenni Bowlin flag stickers are in the shop.

See you next week!

Mixing the Old with the New

I don't know about you, but I have lots of old supplies sitting unloved in my stash. Recently I vowed to start using up some of my older items. As soon as I got the Jump and Jive kit, I remembered these old Lily Bee rub-ons that I have never used up. And would you know, the colors in the rub-ons matched perfectly with this kit!

I challenge you to dig through your stash and add an old item to some of your new items.

Happy Creating!

The View

First, let me say how much fun I'm having playing with the Jump and Jive kit! There are so many little bits and pieces that I love...I have made 3 layouts so far and I've had it less than a week! There are still a few left if you haven't snagged one.

This is one of my favorite pictures from our most recent trip to New York City. We were at the met and there was a huge installation on the roof, so we got to go up and check it out. The installation was cool, but I was mostly interested in the view!

I have really been wanting to cluster in my scrapbooking lately, and this kit gave me the perfect opportunity. I love all of the brads, die cuts, and especially the resin flowers.

The Thickers that come with the kit are one of my favorite...basic block typeface, which I colored over in Sharpie permanent ink so that it would better match my page.

Last but not least, I am so in love with the border stickers - and the filmstrip tucked in behind there...I could use a whole roll of it!

Hope this lends you a little inspiration for your new kit :)

Stephanie

nostalgia

I bought a new toy & have had so much fun playing with it...I bought one of those Instax cameras. The only thing that keeps me from using it more than I do is the fact that the film costs about 80 cents per print.

Now obviously the film quality is exactly what you would expect from an instant camera. But I don't care. It's cute, it's fun, & the kids really get a kick out of that picture popping out the top! hehe Can't wait to take it on our trip to WA.

One of the first pics I took of my daughter immediately took me back to when I was her age. I had a Polaroid camera back then (& many pics to prove it). Believe it or not those pics from 30yrs ago have not aged much at all! And the fact that my daughter is my twin made me really feel like I was going back in time!
I used the new Jump & Jive kit with this layout. And let me tell you, there are a bunch of new releases in this kit so head over here if you want to get your hands on one of the last few left! I was most excited to get the new Lily Bee papers. Definitely need to get more of those :)
To make the border on the top & bottom I simply punched scallop circles & then cut them in half. And those Cosmo Cricket doilies & butterflies are one of my absolute faves in this kit :)

Happy Monday!
Don't forget about the Domestic Goddess challenge!
You have until April 2nd to play along with us.
The challenge is all about scrapping your domestic routine
or lack thereof in my case!
Hence this layout...
I used Delightfully Domestic for that layout!
{sorry, sold out!}

I had barely enough time to dive into Delightfully Domestic kit before the fabulous Jump & Jive kit arrived at my door!
{you are in luck...there are still some of these left}
And it made me want to scrap!
So I did...
Here are a couple close ups of the banner/flag thing I've got going on here.

Have a great week and don't forget about the challenge!!
:)

Cards!

Here are a couple cards I did a few weeks ago for the Tool Challenge...I chose a hole puncher (I used the WRMK Big Bite)...

First up I punched holes in the center of each of the circles from the patterned paper and then used red cardstock behind it to sort of give it an accent color... I used the Very Virginia kit...

For the second card I used my hole puncher as my main design and shaped it as a heart and backed it with patterned paper and then added a simple sentiment and the card was finished! I used the Truly Scrumptious kit...

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Fun in the Photo Booth *Jump and Jive*

Happy weekend friends! I have a new LO to share with you all today! This is one of those that I started a few days ago and let it sit while I thought about it. I'm glad I didn't rush it, because I am happy with the results. I used the Jump and Jive kit, and I actually MISTED, without a prompt! :)

Here is a close up of my main cluster of "stuff". I used my stamp from the kit to anchor it. The I layered a frame from the Echo Park sheet. Added a BG LABEL, LETTERS, rub on, stickers, butterflies and brads from the kit.

A peek at my corner. I made a photo corner out of the same blue paper I backed my photos with and drew a white border around it. I used on of the cute Elle's Studio pennants to frame my LETTERS and cut a few of the doilies from the kit in half and anchored the title a bit. Finished it off with a chip sticker and some BAKERS TWINE.

I did 4 layers on this border strip. The first was a sticker from the kit, then I used a thin strip of paper, which I punched with an ek punch. Next, the red pinking sticker and finally a bit of BAKERS TWINE.

I had so much fun playing with this kit...I have to say it is pretty great for all the "boy photos" I have. I hope those of you that have purchased it are enjoying it!
Did'nt get yours yet? CLICK HERE to order! For some reason I thought this was going to be a very successful kit, but it seems that every kit club decided to do the same papers this month, so I have a bunch left. Come and get em'! PLEASE! ;-)

I have started ordering for the May kit...here is a little "sneak" :)

What's old is new again!!

That's right, just when you think you've got too many old, out-of-date scraps laying around (because you couldn't stand to part with that last little 4" square of your faaaaave paper) there's a way to make them as cute as they were to begin with!

I've been searching around for ideas (cheap ones!) for making my own decorations for our reception/housewarming party and this is just one that I looove! It's also helping to purge some of that big stack of scraps I've got from past kits. Actually, if we're being honest, there's no pile. I keep em all in an album in page sleeves that I've sewn up to be all different sizes. Each color scheme has its own page.... I know... get a life already, right? Anywho, I just grabbed the album and went to town!

I used my 1.5" Marvy punch and made about a bazillion little scalloped circles and sewed them all up with the occasional heart-shaped canvas (from Noel) and tickets (from Noel) and even made up some accordion circles for the dangly ends. I have them hanging in the studio now, and after I add about a bazillion more to the pile, there will be the perfect amount to hang from the trees in the backyard. I can't wait!!

So do you have any other ideas for scraps? Reception decorations? I'm dying to know!

Happy Friday!
xoxo
Britt

trying not to get lost

I'm sure you all can relate - whether you're a mommy that works outside the home, or takes care of littles every day - sometimes you get bogged down a bit with the domestic routine! I really try to cultivate other interests, make sure I set aside time for "me", and if it gets rough one day - pack up and hit the beach with the boys!

A Spring Cleaning Tradition & Fun at the Park

I didn't get my layout done in time for our current "Domestic Goddess" challenge (I'll claim it was because I was being so domestic that I didn't have time to scrap... ;) ) BUT I did finally get a layout done with one of our Spring Cleaning Traditions: getting our front porch ready for spring!

Created with the Delightfully Domestic kit- sorry, sold out!

We do this every year- our porch gets all sorts of stuff piled up on it during the winter: dead leaves, things that blow up onto it, and toys that get randomly left out there. The kids and I get it all "prettified" once it gets warm so that we can spend lots of time out there- and we do!
For the title area, I used some mist, then "stamped" with the lid + some distress ink, then stamped with the cute stamp included in the kit (yay me!), and added some stickles to the letters to make them really stand out.
Below, you can see the little detail I added to the scalloped circle die cut paper. When I punched out all the shapes to reveal the negative side of the border, I saved them, and flipped them over to show the cute polka-dot pattern on them. Then I adhered those down in each spot. It looks a lot more time consuming than it actually is, and I love the definition it adds!
This next layout is one I created with the brand new Jump and Jive kit (there's still a few left to grab!).
I love the playful yet vintage feel of these papers- perfect for our pictures from playing at the park yesterday!

I created a little scalloped border by cutting some of the Cosmo Cricket mini doilies in half and then tucking them under the border. I really like the pop of color it adds.
Those cabachon flowers are such cute little additions to the title!
Make sure to grab up one of the Jump & Jive kits before they're all gone!

Our Home

Today, I'm sharing my layout for the "Domestic Goddess" challenge over on the challenge blog. Since having twin girls, a "domestic goddess" I am not. :) In their early baby days, I was lucky to grab a shower! I love to cook and bake and do all things crafty so I guess in those ways I am pretty domestic. But when it comes to cleaning, forget about it! I do love when my home is clean but I've had to learn to not be such a perfectionist about it. Life is definitely getting easier as the girls get older and my layout today focuses on how I've been able to start teaching them to help mommy! Their first "chore" has been to help me unload the dishwasher. And they are so sweet about helping me...their little faces just light up when I praise them for a job well done.

I used a Melissa Frances kraft envelope to "house" my title (the October Afternoon stickers and a My Mind's Eye dimensional sticker). I built the Crate Paper Neighborhood banner off the title.

Here I layered October Afternoon patterned paper, Crate Paper fence sticker, a My Mind's Eye dimensional sticker and I just had to stick that little KI Memories puffy tree in there.

And here's a peek at the journaling I put on the tag in the envelope.

Until next week,
Jill

Domestic Goddess challenge!

Hi Everyone!! I am sharing with you today my LO for the new challenge! When I read what this challenge was, I automatically thought of the October Afternoon collection Modern Homemaker that was in the Delightfully Domestic kit that I just got. :D This collection was perfect for this challenge! So of course I had to use it.

My days here at home are all extremely similar to each other. Many times during the week I could not tell you what day it is!! (Thank goodness for Survivor on Wednesday nights cause at least I get that day right! Laugh!) We have basically the same routine here, maybe not always in the same order, but definitely the same things get crossed off the list everyday. It can get a bit monotonous at times, but I do really enjoy it. I am very fortunate to be able to stay at home with my girls while they are young, so I cherish this time very much.

I basically just wrote down in the journaling some of the things that we are doing everyday right now. I kept my LO simple and clean cause I wanted the photo and journaling to be the main focuses of this page. :D But I made sure I still had fun with colors and designs!

It's kind of funny, I feel like I JUST GOT my Delightfully Domestic kit, and then the amazingly awesome Jump and Jive lands on my doorstep!! I can't wait to start working with this kit! It is gorgeous! If you haven't picked yours up, then head on over to here and get it before it is gone! :D
Hope everyone is well!! Take care!

~Amy

Quick Tip

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I wanted to show you a quick technique you can add to a die-cut, chipboard or any other embellishment that could use a little umph.
I used my Silhouette to cut out the number two for my layout. Then I chose some thread that matched my patterned paper and carefully wrapped it around my number. Simple, quick, and adds just the right touch for my embellishment.

I used items from the Delightfuly Domestic and Jump and Jive kits. I am in love with both of these kits right now!

Happy Creating!
